“Nick Tumminello’s NT Loops are incredible! We primarily use them at the Glute Lab to perform hip thrusts off the Skorcher as well as kneeling hip thrusts, but there’s a lot of other glute stuff you can do with them too. Good job designing these, Nick!”

Why Resistance Band Loop Workouts Aren’t Good Enough at Building Muscle

The NT Loop exercise band with door anchor and mini loop bands are created by Nick Tumminello, a world-famous coach, author of four fitness books, and 2016 winner of the prestigious NSCA “Personal Trainer of the Year” award.

Often called the “trainer of trainers,” Nick noticed a common problem that many fitness coaches encountered: exercise loop band workouts weren’t producing the results they should be. When Nick took a look at all the resistance band loops on the market, he found out why.

In order to build muscle, you need to progressively increase the amount of resistance or the number of repetitions that you can do. This is a phenomenon known as “progressive overload,” and it’s the central reason that exercises for resistance loop bands were inferior in the real world:

1. Resistance band loops weren’t cutting it because they were cutting into your skin.

2. Users were experiencing regressive overload, not progressive overload.

Due to their width and rubber material, progressively increasing resistance would surpassed a threshold that made the resistance band loop too painful to use. Not to mention having to use limited range of motion on some exercises to avoid tearing the band.

This is why most exercise loop band workouts leave large gaps in your strength or waste your time with less effective, redundant exercises.

Nick began working on a solution that would address these problems because resistance band loops are a fantastic piece of equipment -- especially for beginners.

Shortly after, the NT Loop resistance band with door anchor was born. Followed by the NT mini loop bands.
